In this article is presented an overview of the existing solutions for smart grids. Several modelling criteria are presented, which are graded according to the type of consumer. The purpose of this article is to define the most suitable design criterion for modelling of a Smart Grid (SG) using a photovoltaic power source and supplying a data server. In the proposed smart grid design, we aimed at making the operation of the system as simple as possible in terms of controls and communication, with use of intelligent communication and control devices. In this way the users get feedback on their energy consumption. Thus, users can monitor their energy consumption and make decisions, whether to change their energy behavior.
