This paper investigates a power-efficient simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT)-enabled reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-assisted multi-input multi-output (MIMO) communication network, where a multiple antenna base station (BS) communicates with multiple information and energy receivers simultaneously with the aid of a RIS. To jointly optimize the active and passive beamforming, a transmit power minimization problem is formulated subject to minimum rate and harvested energy requirements at respective users. Due to non-convex nature of the formulated problem, we adopt the mean squared error (MSE)-based approach to convert it into a convex one. Next, we propose an iterative algorithm to determine the optimal active and passive beamforming matrices.
