Bioinformatics may be a new interdisciplinary field of study that combines clinical informatics, bioinformatics, medical informatics, information technology, mathematics, and proteomics research. This chapter will examine Watson and Crick’s 1953 revelation that they had found the blueprint for DNA, the growth of organic chemistry, and the understanding of polypeptide structure in the 1960s. Pauling, Coren, and Ramachandran classified the information of the polypeptide stereoscopic framework, which Margaret O. Dayhoff considered to be the heart of BI [1]. Clinical BI can be defined as a new emerging science which combines the effort of clinical informatics and omics science with mathematics and information technology [2].
