Software Defined Networking (SDN) is an emerging technology that will play an important role in enabling 5G, since it offers enhanced network management features. SDN allows programmability of the control plane, abstracting the underlying network infrastructure for applications and network services, e.g. through the OpenFlow protocol. In this paper, we propose a solution that enables the end-to-end Quality of Service (QoS) based on the queue support in OpenFlow, allowing an operator with a SDN-enabled network to efficiently allocate the network resources according to the users' demands, reducing or even eliminating the need for over-provisioning. For each traffic flow, the proposed solution guarantees the required end-to- end QoS, while efficiently managing the utilization of open virtual switches (OVSs), which leads to reduced cost.
