This paper investigates the improvement of the performance when using Real Time Unit (RTU) in a bus-based multiprocessor system through the comparison and analysis of the simulation results of multiprocessor systems, one without RTU and the others with RTU using different scheduling algorithms. Experiments show how these scheduling algorithms affect positively the performance of the multi-processor system. The most efficient utilization of buses in a multiprocessor system in this paper study could be achieved with a scheduling algorithm that depends on the arrival time with dividing large tasks according to pre-specified threshold (can reach up to 100%), where as the maximum utilization without RTU is 63%.
