Superstable Separators (solid electrolytes) are required for novel aqueous-based high-energy lithium batteries, to enable their long-term operation. In their Communication on page 129 ff., C. Ma, M. Chi, et al. demonstrate excellent stability and conductivity of the cubic Li 7 La 3 Zr 2 O 12 garnet in neutral and strongly basic solutions, indicating it may be the ideal solid electrolyte for next-generation high-energy lithium batteries.
