Enhanced random access for massive-machine-type communications

BH Lee, HS Lee, S Moon… - IEEE Internet of Things …, 2020 - ieeexplore.ieee.org
In this article, we study a random access (RA) scheme to alleviate the RA channel (RACH)
overload problem in the massive-machine-type communication (mMTC) environment. We
first propose a timing advance-based preamble resource expansion (TAPRE) scheme which
effectively increases preamble resources and reduces the preamble collision probability by
adjusting preamble transmission timing with timing advance (TA) information. We also
propose a resource allocation wait (RAW) scheme which efficiently reduces the number of …

[HTML][HTML] Intelligent Random Access for Massive-Machine Type Communications in Sliced Mobile Networks

B Yang, F Wei, X She, Z Jiang, J Zhu, P Chen, J Wang - Electronics, 2023 - mdpi.com
With the emerging Internet of Things paradigm, massive Machine-Type Communication
(mMTC) has been identified as one of the prominent services that enables a broad range of
applications with various Quality of Service (QoS) requirements for 5G-and-beyond
networks. However, it is very difficult to employ a monolithic physical network to support
various mMTC applications with differentiated QoS requirements. Moreover, in ultra-dense
mobile networks, the scarcity of the preamble and Physical Downlink Control CHannel …
