Relational database management systems keep expanding their range of analytical functionalities. On the other hand, DNA sequence information keep multiplying making it readily and cheaply available for analysis. Next-generation sequencing technologies generate DNA and RNA sequences more quickly and as such has influenced the study of genomics. Identification of DNA patterns has biological relevance. Searching is done through a query sequence or all occurrences of repeat sequences in the relational database. We therefore explore searching for DNA repeat sequences using database-based approach. Lastly, we provide a discussion of the experimental results.
