In this paper, we present the technical details of a software application for in-vehicle interactions that features WebSocketsbased communications between the driver’s smartwatch and a tablet installed in the car that runs a web-based interface and demonstrates features representative of those found in IVI systems. Our implementation is based on a Node.js server application that processes incoming data from the smartwatch, e.g., a list of preferred songs or the driver’s heart rate, and delivers that data to the in-vehicle infotainment system.
