This research proposes an extension to the Operator Function Model (OFM) as the basis for
a methodology to guide the design of interactive monitoring and control interfaces (ie,
operator interfaces), specifically designed to support the monitoring tasks of supervisory
system control. The goal of such an interface is to engage the operator in the monitoring
activity to ensure that fault detection occurs in an efficient and reliable way.
