Agriculture has a strategic importance since it produces food, which is the most basic human need. Pursued agricultural policies are of great importance to ensure stable food security. Nowadays, most of the countries achieved food security supported the agriculture sector during the historical development process and largely protected it from the liberalization process. The production structure of agriculture is dependent on natural conditions. Therefore, countries have need for caring and supporting agriculture sector in terms of food security. However, in most of the countries suffering from food security, agricultural policies are determined based on global developments and structural adjustment programs to international organizations rather than countries priorities. In these countries, reflections of these programs to the agricultural sector substantiated by weakening of the protection and promotion systems. In Turkey, the agricultural sector has been protected and supported until the 1980s. However, state support on agriculture sector was reduced after 1980 due to the transition to a market economy as a result of liberalization process. In Turkey, agriculture requires government support due to the fact that the structural problems still could not be overcame. Therefore, achieving sustainable food security and suitability of agricultural liberalization policies to agricultural infrastructure have become a topic of discussion for Turkey. In this study, Turkey's agricultural policies from the Republican era to the present day were evaluated in two stages; before and after the planned period in terms of food security.
