The analysis of children’s time-use and activity-travel patterns is gaining increasing attention in several fields. This paper provides a comprehensive review of previous research on children’s activity engagement and travel by focusing on the dimensions characterizing children’s activitytravel patterns. In addition, the paper discusses the treatment of children within current activitybased travel demand modeling systems and conceptualizes an alternative framework for simulating the daily activity-travel patterns of children. Overall, this research effort details the current state of children’s travel behavior analysis and highlights areas for future research.
