An edge detection method in DCT domain

This paper proposes a new edge detection method in DCT domain for compressed images.
Instead of detection with spatial pixels, we generate the gradient patterns of DCT basis
images with detection operators. The quantized coefficients are used to calculate the edge
maps, which avoids the procedure of inverse quantization. It is shown that the proposed
scheme leads to not only good edges but also computation speedup.
