Abstract The University of Missouri Research Reactor (MURR) is one of five High
Performance Research Reactors (HPRRs) in the US that still utilizes high enriched uranium
(HEU) fuel. In accordance with the Department of Energy's Global Threat Reduction Initiative
(GTRI), these remaining HPRRs must convert from weapons-usable HEU fuel to proliferation-
resistant low enriched uranium (LEU) fuel.
