The size and shape of the molecules of the aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent have a strong
influence on the magnitude of the anomalous spectral shift in the fluorescence maximum of
the charge transfer (CT) state of a high‐generation dendrimer (shown schematically on the
right). Its molecules no longer exist in an open extended form but exhibit a compact, globular
structure, and the dipole moment of the CT state in pentane is larger than in cyclohexane.
