Abstract Chlorpyrifos [O, O-diethyl O-(3, 5, 6-trichloro-2-pyridinol) phosphorothioate] is used
worldwide as an agricultural insecticide against a broad spectrum of insect pests of
economically important crops including rice, and soil application to control termites. The
insecticide mostly undergoes hydrolysis to diethyl thiophosphoric acid (DETP) and 3, 5, 6-
