diaminomaleonitrile, 4-formyl-1-substituted phenyl-pyrazole-3-carboxylate and 2-hydroxy-1-
naphthaldehyde through imine linkages were successfully designed and synthesized. The
synthesized chemosensors showed quick colorimetric response with excellent selectivity
and sensitivity towards detection of Mn 2+ and Zn 2+ ions in preference of other cations.
