Diffusion bonding of superplastic 7075 aluminium alloy

Y Huang, N Ridley, FJ Humphreys, JZ Cui - Materials Science and …, 1999 - Elsevier
Diffusion bonding (DB) of superplastic 7075 Al alloy has been investigated for various
temperatures, pressures and times, using a Gleeble 1500 test machine. After the removal of
surface oxide, an organic solution was used to protect the surfaces prior to bonding. The
strengths achieved after bonding were dependent on interface grain boundary migration
and on grain growth during the bonding process. Under optimum conditions, bonds having
parent metal shear strength and microstructure were obtained. The optimum temperatures …

Diffusion bonding of superplastic 7075 aluminum alloy

H Yan, C Jianzhong, M Longxiang - MRS Online Proceedings Library …, 1990 - cambridge.org
Because of the presence of surface oxide films, aluminum alloys are very difficult to join by
diffusion bonding processes when there are no interlayers between mating surfaces. In the
present investigation, the diffusion bonding of superplastic 7075 aluminum alloy has been
carried out using a special method for surface treatment in the temperature range 500∼
520° C, at pressures of 2.07∼ 3. OMPa, times of 90∼ 150min and a vaccum of 1× 10− 5torr.
The joint strength obtained is the same as the base metal strength of the alloy, and the joint …
