Previous studies have suggested that exogenous nitric oxide (NO) and NO-dependent
signalling pathways modulate intracellular pH (pH i) in different cell types, but the role of NO
in pH i regulation in the heart is poorly understood. Therefore, in this study we investigated
the effect of NO donors S-nitroso-N-acetyl-DL-penicillamine, Spermine and PAPA NONOate
on pH i in isolated rat ventricular myocytes.
