Abstract
The 2 organic manures and FYM, each at 20 t/ha, were applied before planting of the cv. Co.J.64, whereas inorganic N (urea) at 150 kg N/ha was applied alone in a split dose, one-half at planting (late Mar.) and in late May, or else urea was applied in combination with each of the 3 organic manures at 100 kg N/ha. Gypsum at 2.5 t/ha + 150 kg N/ha (as urea) was also applied as a separate treatment. The highest yield of good quality cane (69.5 t/ha) was obtained with FYM + urea; yields in the other variants were 63.1 t/ha with gypsum + urea, 64.6 t/ha with press mud (carbonation) + urea, and 65.5 t/ha with press mud (sulphitation) + urea. The control yield was 47.3 t/ha.
