The technology of map projections is used to provide a new, reduced-distortion color visualization of the coverage characteristics of a multiple-satellite constellation vs. user earth-fixed latitude and longitude. While global visualization plots are exhibited in this paper, the method can also be" zoomed" to provide regional plots, such as only over the USA, Australia, Africa, etc. The visualization has been tested by comparing the statistics produced by the utility over a ground-track repeat cycle with those given in the constellation design studies published in the open literature. It was found that the two sets of statistics agreed rather well. The new method employing map projections improves the visualization vs. the previous method where the sphericity of the earth was not accounted for. The paper provides visualization in the new format for three constellations based on eccentric orbits, for a constellation based on the Quasi-Zenith concept, and for two constellations that are hybrid combinations of the Quasi-Zenith and traditional geostationary concepts.
