In the past few years, new underwater archaeological evidence (from shipwrecks and other
contexts) is helping the scholarly community to understand the articulation of late Roman
sea trade. In this paper, we present an unpublished collection of Lusitanian amphorae
recovered in 1969 from the site of Escolletes. The study of this collection in relation to
Carthago Nova and in conjunction with maritime spatial analysis is a contribution to a better
understanding of the late Roman sea trade in this region.
