Essential constructs in the preparation of inclusive bilingual education teachers: Mediation, agency, and collectivity

This conceptual article is guided by the question, how can we build the knowledge base in
teacher education to prepare teachers for such education classrooms? I argue that three
constructs are essential to the preparation of teachers who work in these settings: mediation,
agency, and collectivity. Implications for teacher preparation programs are discussed and
praxis examples are provided.
