One forty four genotypes of pigeonpea [Cajanuscajan (L.) Millspaugh] were evaluated in a Randomized Block Design with three replications at NEBCRC, GBPUA and T, Pantnagar, Uttarakhandto measure the genetic divergence for yield and yield related components byusing Mahalanobis D2 method. The observations were recorded on five plants for nine different yield and its contributing traits and thirteen clusters were obtained. Maximum number of genotypes were found in Cluster VII (23) while minimum number in Cluster XII (4). The inter cluster distance were found to be greater than the intra cluster distance which indicated that sufficient amount of genetic divergence is existed among the genotypes under study. The maximum and minimum inter cluster distance was found between cluster X and XII (1021.136) and cluster II and III (23.974) respectively. On the basis of mean values of different traits, and inter cluster distance it can be concluded that if genotypes from cluster X and XII are crossed they not only produce heterotic progenies for earliness and high yield but there is also chance of getting the transgressivesegregants in subsequent generations.
