Abstract
Carbon based steel are basically available with faultlessly that materials mostly welded by MIG weld machine which is suitable to produce very good quality and accuracy weld. This steel has good stability of toughness, strength and better mechanical properties. In this present work, AISI 1018 mild/low carbon steel joints were prepared by varying process parameters. Mig weld parameters are such as welding current (110–130 A), applied voltage (14–16 V), speed (2.5–3 RPM) which lead for best quality weld. Totally six weld samples have been carried out for radiography and magnetic testing to checking the weld surface area condition. It was observed that specimen 1, 2, 5 and 6 have a defects in weld areas while specimens 3 and 4 having no spatters and shrinkages.
