Abstract
Malaysian batik industry is one of the oldest industries in Malaysia. Mostly populated by micro and small firms and with low level of technology being applied, this industry nevertheless is one of the industries that attracts the attention of the Malaysian government and a non-profit organization because of its cultural and economic values. A research was conducted to examine the contribution of reputation, network and marketing capability towards batik firms’ performance. Results were not as expected because not all resources had the ability to directly affect firms’ performance. This research is believed not only to contribute to batik industry, but also to provide further understanding on resource-based view theory. Implications and suggestions for future research are also discussed in this paper.
