Pancytopenia with hypocellular bone marrow is the hallmark of aplastic anaemia (AA) and
the diagnosis is confirmed after careful evaluation, following exclusion of alternate diagnosis
including hypoplastic myelodysplastic syndromes. Emerging use of molecular cyto‐
