Materials and Methods

The data were collected from a commercial emu breeder farm with 22 breeder pairs (1: 1) in the age of 30 months (Second breeding cycle) during the period of October 2007 to March 2008. The breeders were fed (ad lib) with commercial emu breeder feed containing of 18 per cent crude protein and 2700 kcal ME per kg diet. The calcium and phosphorus content sof breeder mash were 3 per cent and 0.5 per cent respectively. The hatching eggs were collected daily, cleaned, fumigated at 2x concentration and stored at room temperature for three days. The temperature and relative humidity of egg storage room was 30-32oC with 70-75 per cent. The eggs were incubated by using commercial forced draft incubators of indigenous make. Three days collection of eggs were weighed with 2 g accuracy and transferred to setter compartment of Incubator. At the 49th day eggs were transferred to hatcher compartment. The temperature and relative humidity were maintained in the Setter (36-36.50C and 55-56 percent) and in hatcher (35.5-360C and 58-60 percent). Eggs were automatically turned at 900 at setter compartment on hourly basis. Based on the actual observation, the chicks were pulled out from the hatching tray and weighed individually.
