Nattokinase, a serine protease, was discovered in Bacillus subtilis during the fermentation of
a soybean byproduct. Nattokinase is essential for the lysis of blood clots and the treatment of
cardiac diseases including atherosclerosis, thrombosis, high blood pressure, and stroke.
