Humidity sensors have gained popularity among scientific community throughout the world owing to the cost effectiveness, ultra-high sensitivity, stability, linearity, and wide range response. Significant efforts have been made to target the various parameters of humidity sensors employing the advanced sensing technologies for different industrial and practical applications. The comprehensive novel materials have been developed to fabricate the humidity sensors with desired improved parameters. Among them two-dimensional (2D) materials, and three-dimensional (3D) materials possess unique physical/chemical properties, exceptional sensitivity, rapid response times, and remarkable stability when employed in humidity sensing devices. As a result, considerable breakthrough has been made in the field of humidity sensors. This review paper seeks to provide a comprehensive overview of the state-of-the-art in 2D/3D materials-based humidity sensors, shedding light on their unique properties, sensing mechanisms, and technological advancement in this era. Moreover, the potential future developments as well as current challenges in this field has also been summarized in this review article. Over, the next few years, the excellent research achievements are expected to play an important role in this field to accelerate the technological advancement.
