The triboluminescent properties of zinc sulfide doped with manganese (ZnS: Mn) were
studied using ballistic impacts of specially prepared rounds manufactured in two different
calibers. The triboluminescent emission spectrum was then rerecorded as the rounds
impacted the target. Results show a~ 1nm shift in the emission spectrum with increased
impact energy.
