Abstract
In lab. tests urea slightly reduced the viability of sclerotia but calcium ammonium nitrate did not. When T. harzianum was added to soil in a wheat-bran formulation it reduced the viability of sclerotia in the soil. The effects became additive when urea was combined with T. harzianum. T. populations persisted at a high level in the soil when the wheat-bran formulation was combined with calcium ammonium nitrate. This combination was most effective in reducing stem blight of groundnut, indicating that any system permitting high T. harzianum levels in the soil would reduce incidence of this disease.
