Abstract
In recent years, Dibenzyltoluene (H0-DBT) is becoming a promising liquid organic hydrogen carrier for hydrogen storage purpose. In this study, the hydrogenation characteristics of H0-DBT were investigated under a pressure of 0.8 MPa. Initially, the catalytic activity of three different catalysts: Raney-Ni, 5% Pd/Al2O3 and 5% Ru/Al2O3 was examined at 150 and 200 °C. Raney-Ni was found to be the best catalyst as compared to others. Moreover, the hydrogenation experiment was conducted over Raney-Ni catalyst to indicate the optimal temperature of the reaction. The results elucidated that 170 °C was the optimal reaction temperature which yielded the hydrogen capacity of 1.33 wt%.
