Beauty and Sadness is one of the famous novels that has earned the nobel prize written by Yasunari Kawabata, who is one of the novels that can be analyzed from different studies of literary theory. The study of psychology, feminism, new Historicism, and historicism is an example of a theory which is suitable for analyzing the novel. One of the theories that can be analyzed in the novel is The Historicism. Yasunari presents the results of this work by focusing on the various points of view of the author of the life of the original society in Japan. Based on a comparison of the author's biography and works, readers can understand that the author engaged in various forms of the setting and roles in the novel.
