“Love the legacy, learn and develop the new ones”, is the credo of Vincent McDermoth which is the direction of the mindset of creating new musical works. Gamelan Semaradhana as a Balinese musical orchestra with its specifications is carefully and deeply studied and understood. Once understood, in the creative sphere, the composer thinks of a new offer by working on it with new thoughts and directions. The diversity of archipelago music stretching from east (Papua) to west (Aceh) inspires the creative power of the composer to create a new musical work with the theme of the diversity of Indonesian cultures and entitled Manikam Nusantara. The ideas and concepts of Manikam Nusantara, which are to summarize the diversity of melodies and rhythms, were chosen to be used as the basis for Balinese musical work in the Semara Dhana gamelan media, by breathing the Indonesian melodies from the east to the west. The purpose of this creation can be seen in two perspectives, namely intra-musical and extra-musical as well as mastering the creative power of the composer to always produce progressive works, while the benefit is as cultural diplomacy because the creation of Balinese musical art originates from the diversity of Indonesian music. The method of creation or the steps in the creation of Manikam Nusantara’s music works uses the art creation method used by two (2) local composers, namely Pande Made Sukerta consisting of; Arranging the Content Ideas, Arranging the Ideas and Determining the Working, and I Wayan Beratha consists of; Nguping, Menahin, Ngalusin and Ngungkab Rasa. The composition of this Manikam Nusantara is manifested by considering aspects such as aesthetic concepts, continuity in change, creative attitudes, artistic tips and the concept of balance. With the application of these aspects, resulting in new music compositions with high quality.
