Corona virus disease-2019, first reported as a cluster of pneumonia cases that originated from the wet market of Wuhan, Hubei province, China on December 31, 2019 by possible animal to human transmission [1]. On 30th January, COVID-19 was declared as public health emergency of international concern (PHEIC)[2] and on March 11, 2020, WHO declared the disease as Pandemic [3]. The higher rate of community transmission brings more focus on need for laboratory diagnosis of infection caused by SARS-CoV-2 [4-8]. CDC recommends the coordination of clinicians and local public health authorities for testing and diagnosis of the disease. Real time reverse transcription-PCR is the most preferred test used for diagnosis [9-11] which was similar to that used in case of the previous SARS-CoV infections [12-13].
