Large-amplitude periodic pipe flow-A second-moment closure study

W Kebede, BE Launder… - 5th Symposium on …, 1985 - ui.adsabs.harvard.edu
A second-moment closure scheme is extended to incorporate the immediate near-wall
region in large-amplitude periodic pipe flow, where turbulence Reynolds numbers are low.
The model's development and testing for stationary flows is described. A detailed
comparison is made between the present simulations and the 0.5 Hz experiment of
Ramaprian and Tu (1981). The present model is shown to reproduce the behavior of
equilibrium wall flows fairly well.
