Abstract
In this article, a new topology of antenna for multi‐band application is proposed, designed, and characterized. This one is based on an array of two antipodal Vivaldi antennas diametrically placed and fed through a microstrip to coplanar strip (CPS) transition, which generates an odd‐order coupling at the input of the elements. The designed antenna was built on a low‐cost substrate (FR‐4), with compatible operation at 1.85–2.00, 2.20–2.85, 3.35–3.81, and 5.00–6.9 GHz (PCS, Bluetooth, WLAN, WiMAX, TD‐SCDMA, and ISM). The measurements, on a fabricated prototype, and the simulations demonstrate the operability and functionality, with satisfactory performance, of the proposed antenna topology.
