SJ Hume, JA Rotella, JJ Gome, AY Wong - Clinical Toxicology, 2019 - Taylor & Francis
Clinical Toxicology, 2019Taylor & Francis
Discussion Prolonged coma following eucalyptus overdose is rare. The exact mechanism for
CNS depression secondary to exposure to hydrocarbons is unclear but experimental
evidence suggests that NMDA, dopamine and GABA receptors are implicated [Citation 4].
Young et al. reported coma in an adult secondary to ingestion of 1000 ml of eucalyptus oil
[Citation 2].
