The field of microphysiological systems (or organs-on-a-chip) experienced, in the past
decade, a surge in publications and efforts towards commercialization. Such systems hold
the promise to advance drug discovery, diagnostics, and many other areas. In this review we
summarize and analyze the current status of the field, describe the commercial advances
and discuss standing challenges and the commercial outlook of the field.
Abstract
