Microbiosensors for nitrate and methane have been constructed with diameters down to 30
μm. Both sensors are characterized by linear responses to their substrates and 90%
response times from 10–120 s. The efficient diffusional transport at a micrometer scale
makes it possible to utilize new concepts in the construction of biosensors.
