False and misleading information can hinder effective response efforts, exacerbate the outbreak, and lead to adverse health consequences. This article explores the causes and consequences of misinformation and disinformation during disease outbreaks in Sub-Saharan Africa. It also reviewed existing strategies that can be employed to combat the dissemination of false information and promote accurate health information during such crises. The article emphasizes the importance of community engagement, digital literacy, and collaboration between various stakeholders to ensure effective communication during public health emergencies, especially in Sub-Saharan Africa.
