Internet is the communication medium of new century. In a short time, the world is covered by fiber optic cables, thanks to World Wide Web, and McLuhan’s global village come to life. Web 2.0 brings interactivity to unprecedented levels among communication mediums. This period’s most obvious web 2.0 applications are sharing sites like YouTube, and social networking sites like twitter, MySpace and Facebook. Especially social networking, which started among university students, has reached children today. In our study, we aim to profile male and female high school students as social network users. We try to find out reasons of male and female students membership to social networking sites, starting age of membership, time spent on these sites, types of activities they perform, and why they are attracted to these sites. Our main research question is, what are the differences between male and female students social network use? The research universe consists of high school students. A random sample of equal male and female students will be selected from one of the state schools. Questionnaires will be filled face to face, and SPSS software will be used for data entry.
