A solenoid driver valve has been built to improve the operating performance of
diaphragmless shock tubes, which are used for high pressure, high temperature chemical
kinetics, and fluid mechanics studies. For shock tube driver application, the most important
characteristics are those of sealing, strength, and quality of the generated shock waves and
