We report on optical properties of CdS semiconductor nanocrystals doped with manganese
ions which have been successfully prepared using the inverted micelle technique. The
effects of quantum confinement on the emission properties of the manganese ions are
studied by means of absorption, continuous and time resolved luminescence as well as
photoluminescence excitation spectra at room temperature and at 10 K. The Mn2+ emission
band associated to the 4T 1→ 6A 1 transition dominates the continuous luminescence …

Optical properties of Mn-doped CdS nanocrystals fabricated by sequential ion implantation

We have studied luminescence spectrum and dynamics of Mn-doped CdS nanocrystals
fabricated by sequential Cd, S, and Mn ion implantation into Al2O3 matrices. The
photoluminescence PL due to the Mn2 intra-3d transition is clearly observed near 570 nm in
Mn-doped CdS nanocrystals. The PL excitation spectrum of the Mn2 luminescence in Mn-
doped CdS nanocrystals is similar to the optical absorption spectrum and PL excitation
