Osteoclasts are multinucleated giant cells that differentiate from precursors of the monocyte-
macrophage lineage. We used receptor activator of NF-kappa B ligand (RANKL) and
macrophage colony stimulating factor (M-CSF) to differentiate authentic human osteoclasts
