The temperature variation of refractive indices (ne, no), birefringence (Δ n), density (ρ), and
order parameter of the homologous compounds trans‐4‐alkyl (4‐cyanophenyl)‐
cyclohexane are reported in the nematic and isotropic phases. The principal molecular
