Authors conducted a systematic review to assess performance characteristics of depression
screening instruments after acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Among the seven studies
identified, the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) and the depression subscale of the Hospital
Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS–D) were used most frequently. Studies were
generally of low quality, and no screening instrument performed notably better than others.
