This paper is concerned with selecting a very compatible Single-Switch Zeta (SSZ) converter-based drive for BLDC motor applications with exhaust fans. Nowadays, noise production and low power factor are the main issues when using induction motors for household and commercial applications. Especially in the case of the running pedestal and exhaust fans producing more noise. Unfortunately, these fans are unavoidable, and higher speed ranges are mandatory. It concentrates on two things: one is to replace the induction motor with a BLDC motor; and the other is to select a compact DC to DC variable converter with Power Factor Correction (PFC). Normally, for exhaust fan applications, speed ranges from 750 rpm to 6000 rpm with acceptable noise criteria levels are necessary. From power supply to BLDC rotor output speed with PFC, simulated on the MATLAB/Simulink platform and substantial analysis is performed. The output waveforms are illustrated, and the obtained values are tabulated clearly.
