The rickettsia are obligate intracellular bacteria living within the cytoplasm of eukaryotic
cells. They multiply in the intestinal epithelium of their arthropod vectors such as lice, fleas,
mites and ticks and are transmitted to human during feeding. They classified into two groups:
spotted fever and typhus group. They cause diseases such as typhus, rickettsialpox,
Boutonneuse fever, African tick bite fever, and Rocky Mountain spotted fever. Ticks play an
